ASKED QUESTIONS
Who are the orthodontists at Brayces Orthodontics?
Our South Jersey team includes Dr. Robert James Bray, Dr. Robert J. Tarby, Dr. Dan Chenman, and Dr. Rebecca Lerman—orthodontic specialists providing braces, Invisalign®, TMJ care, and early treatment for kids, teens, and adults.Where are Brayces Orthodontics locations in South Jersey?
We have offices in Somers Point, Absecon, Marmora, Wildwood, and Egg Harbor Township, with flexible hours and the ability to be seen at different offices during treatment for your convenience.Do you offer a free consultation for new patients?
Yes—complimentary consultations include a clinical exam and, if indicated, diagnostic records (photos, panoramic/cephalometric X-rays, digital scans). We review treatment options, time, and cost at your first visit. What should I expect at my first orthodontist visit?
You’ll be greeted by our team and meet your doctor for a thorough exam. If treatment is recommended, we can often capture iTero® digital scans and records the same day. We’ll outline braces or Invisalign®, timelines, and financing. What is the Patient Manager System and how does it help?
Our unique Patient Manager System pairs you with the same treatment team at each visit. This continuity improves communication, comfort, and efficiency—helping you achieve faster, more personalized results.Do you treat children, teens, and adults?
Absolutely. We provide early interceptive treatment for children (AAO recommends a check by age 7), comprehensive braces and Invisalign® for teens, and discreet options (Invisalign®, ceramic, lingual) for adults. What orthodontic treatments are available?
We offer traditional metal braces, clear ceramic braces, lingual braces (behind-the-teeth), and Invisalign®/Invisalign Teen®. We also provide retainers, expander therapy, and TMJ/TMD evaluations. Are you an experienced Invisalign® provider?
Yes - Brayces is a Top 1% Invisalign® Provider in North America. Our doctors use 3D imaging and iTero® scanners to plan precise, efficient aligner treatment for teens and adults across South Jersey.Do you offer virtual orthodontic consultations?
Yes. You can start from home with a virtual consultation—upload smile photos, discuss candidacy, costs, and timelines—then visit any Brayces location for scans, records, and treatment start when you’re ready. How long does orthodontic treatment take?
Timing depends on your case, but many comprehensive treatments finish in about 15–18 months. Visits are typically every 4–8 weeks. Consistent elastic wear and great hygiene help keep you on schedule.Do braces or aligners hurt?
Mild soreness for 3–5 days is common after new appliances or adjustments. Use orthodontic wax, a soft-food diet, and OTC pain relief as needed. Lips and cheeks usually adapt within 1–2 weeks.Do you accept insurance and offer payment plans?
Yes—we accept most dental insurance and help verify benefits. We offer interest-free payment plans, low/no down-payment options, and family savings, with transparent pricing and no hidden fees. Can I get same-day braces?
Often, yes. If you’re ready after your consultation and records are complete, we can frequently place same-day braces to jump-start your smile. What foods should I avoid with braces?
Avoid sticky, hard, and crunchy foods (caramels, gum, popcorn, ice, hard candy) and don’t bite directly into apples, carrots, or corn on the cob. Cutting firm foods into small pieces helps protect brackets and wires. How do I care for my teeth with braces or aligners?
Brush after meals, floss daily (threaders or water flossers help), and maintain regular cleanings. With Invisalign®, remove aligners to eat/drink (water is OK), brush before reinserting, and clean aligners daily.Do I need a retainer after treatment?
Yes—retainers hold your results. Most patients wear retainers full-time for the first year, then nighttime for life. Bring retainers to follow-ups; call us promptly if they’re lost, broken, or not fitting. What should I do in an orthodontic emergency?
For a loose bracket/wire, place wax over irritation or gently tuck the wire with an eraser, then call your nearest Brayces office for a repair appointment. For direct injuries to teeth/lips, contact your family dentist first; we’ll adjust appliances afterward.Do you treat TMJ/TMD issues?
Yes. We provide TMJ exams to evaluate joint tissues and bite function. Depending on your needs, options may include splints/nightguards, orthodontic correction, behavior guidance, or referral for advanced care. How do I schedule and what are your hours?
Call 609-272-9237 (also 609-BRAY-CES) or request online. We offer daytime and evening hours, plus select Saturdays, across Somers Point, Absecon, Marmora, Wildwood, and Egg Harbor Township to fit busy schedules.
